Peter O. Zierlein is an illustrator, with a MFA from the Art Institute of Boston and a BFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.

Zierlein was born and raised in Germany.

Early artistic exploits include posters for local clubs and illustrations in small hometown publications and he painted  designs on German carnival parade floats.

Upon arrival in the US, Zierlein became a 'T-shirt Artist' and

creating stenciled, airbrushed and screen-printed T-shirts.

While studying at Pratt Institute, Zierlein got his first illustration commissions from publications like the Village Voice, New York Magazine, he contributed dozens of cover-designs for the Big Apple Parent Paper and Al Goldstein's Screw Magazine.

Returning to Germany in 1991 Zierleins work soon appeared on a regular basis in publications like the German Stern Magazine, Spiegel, Amica, Max, GEO, Tageszeitung TAZ and Berliner Zeitung as well as in electronic game design.

1998 Zierlein returned to New York City and re-introduced himself as an illustrator there.

  Zierlein's new client-list includes the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, the Nation, Print, Die Zeit, Berliner Zeitung, Stern, Spiegel, FSB Magazine, Harvard Business Magazine, New York Magazine, Premiere Magazine, and others.

Some of Zierlein's work is Part of the permanent collections of the Cologne Ludwig Museum, Stuttgart Staatsgalerie and Kassel Documenta Archiv.
